Jen Gutridge (Digital Learning Developer)
Jen has worked in both Further and Higher Education since 2005. She started her career as a Web Designer, creating standalone microsites for senior level recruitment opportunities as well as project managing and constructing new college wide websites linked to content management systems.
She continued her career by moving back into her Masters field of Multimedia and E-Learning, as an E-Learning Development Officer at Teesside University, guiding and assisting staff in the use of the learning environment including identifying and developing innovative practices to enrich and enhance the learning experience.
For the last 10+ years Jen has been an E-Learning Technologist at the University of Hertfordshire where she primarily continued their successful Online Degree provision in the School of Computer Science, across the wider institution. After successfully developing two online programmes with the School of Engineering, taking into account usability, user experience and accessibility, she became a lead contact in the department for cross institution technology based projects that would impact teaching and learning. These included concept classrooms, hybrid lecture rooms and the roll out of Teams. A highlight from the last few years was solely training 400+ academics on using Teams in their teaching as well as producing and managing the online delivery of the Learning and Teaching Innovation Centre’s yearly conference.
Jen has a keen focus on enhancing the student experience and enjoys collaborating with and supporting the subject matter experts achieve this. This also has allowed the opportunity to learn a multitude of subjects and recently completed an Associate Project Manager apprenticeship with the Association of Project Management.
Outside of work Jen has an interest in sport and exercise, qualifying as a British Cycling Commissaire, taking part in BMX training practices and completing the trek to Annapurna Base Camp (which does help when attempting Cardiac Hill).
