Steve Boulton

Steve Boulton (Senior Digital Learning Developer)
After graduating in Politics and then Russian and East European Studies, Steve has worked in online learning within Higher Education for the last 27 years and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Steve began his career implementing Blackboard forerunner WebCT at Solihull College in 1998. He then spent three years working at the University of Birmingham as an e-Learning Developer in the School of Education, before moving to live and work in Scotland as a Learning Technology and Design Specialist at the University of Stirling. At Stirling Steve supported the Faculties of Natural Sciences, and Health Sciences and Sport, helping with curriculum development and the creation of successful programmes of study in Prescribing and Coaching, leading to Fellowship of Advance HE.
Steve edited a University-wide newsletter for over a decade, delivered extensive staff and student training in a range of software and online learning tools and also supported Stirling’s move from Blackboard to Canvas in 2017. He started work at Durham University in September 2022 and his areas of interest are using video in learning, assessment design and accessible maths. Outside work, Steve is a keen outdoor enthusiast, hill runner, and lifelong Liverpool supporter.
